The Trithemis aurora, commonly known as the crimson marsh glider. This dragonfly species is a delightful inhabitant of the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia.

  • Appearance:
    • Male:
      • The male crimson marsh glider has a reddish-brown face, with eyes that are crimson above and brown on the sides.
      • Its thorax is red, adorned with a fine purple pruinescence.
      • The abdomen, which has a swollen base, is crimson with a violet tinge.
      • Transparent wings exhibit crimson venation, and the base features a broad amber patch.
      • Dark reddish-brown wing spots and black legs complete its striking appearance.
    • Female:
      • The female has an olivaceous or bright reddish-brown face with purplish-brown eyes above and grey eyes below.
      • Her thorax is olivaceous, featuring brown median stripes and black lateral stripes.
      • The abdomen is reddish-brown with median and lateral black markings.
      • The wings are transparent with brown tips, and the venation ranges from bright yellow to brown.
      • Dark brown wing spots and dark grey legs with narrow yellow stripes characterize the female.
